A Love Story Redeemed: Leigh Jacob's Testimony

Some stories you don't tell so people will applaud. You tell them because someone out there is holding onto a thread, and they need to know the thread holds.

This week on Connie's Corner, I sat down with Leigh Jacob and asked her to share what God has done in her marriage. What came out was honest, hard, and so full of hope I had to stop the recording twice just to breathe.

What I heard in her story

Leigh and her husband didn't have a fairytale. They had a real marriage — the kind where there are good years and there are years you don't talk about at Christmas dinner. There were moments when walking away looked like the only sane option.

But somewhere in the middle of all that, God did what God does: He pursued. Not loudly. Not with fireworks. With small, persistent invitations to stay, to try again, to forgive one more time.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

— Romans 8:28

Three things her testimony taught me

  1. Restoration isn't the same as rewind. God doesn't take you back to who you were. He takes you forward into who you were always meant to be — together.
  2. The miracle is usually in the staying. Most miracles I've witnessed weren't flashy. They were two people choosing each other again on a Tuesday.
  3. Your story is somebody's lifeline. Don't bury what God has done. Someone is drowning, and your story might be the rope.

If you're in a hard season in your marriage right now, please hear me: you are not alone, and your situation is not beyond His reach. Reply to this email or call the church. We'll pray with you. We'll sit with you. That's what we're here for.

Praying for you today,
Pastor Connie
